I ordered the yarn for the KnitPicks KAL: Classic Lines Cardigan. Should be here this week or next. Yay! I decided on the Cattail Heather Shadow with Shimmer Shallows.

I also ordered Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting without Tears. This will be my very first EZ book and I'm really looking forward to learning a lot from it.

First sock done. There's a story behind this. These are a surprise for my "bus buddy", the one who went to China on a mission trip last year and brought me back a lovely yellow jade necklace. I had no idea she was going to do that and I was very surprised/pleased. So for a long while I've been trying to think what to knit her, as a thank you.

I began the Bus Socks IV with no particular idea in mind, then one morning she saw the wool and exclaimed how pretty it was. That settled it - the socks were for her. Some hard staring at her feet while on the bus and waiting for it at our mutual stop, led me to believe that she is a size or so smaller than my tootsies; she's a tiny lady. I've endeavoring to make these socks smaller than I would for myself. It's an interesting experience.

Battle won, War still on

For a little over a year, Hubby and I have been following the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover program (linky to right). Today we won our first battle against debt: we paid off the credit card!!! Now we move on to paying off the car.

No longer are we at the whim of any faceless, merciless, predatory credit card company. We don't have to wonder if this is the month they'll lower the credit limit on the card, or arbitrarily raise the interest rate, or any of the other myriad stunts they pull, simply because they can.

The War on Debt is still being waged, and we're one step closer to taking the hill. Hooah!!

Round by round

Progress is slowing being made. I'm in no hurry, and am taking a nice leisurely approach to this project.

Baby oh Baby!

In fact, two Babies!! My brother's oldest son and his wife are expecting in June, and I just heard today that Hubby's nephew and his wife are expecting in October. Whee!! I get to knit two baby cardigans now. I've been happily spending lots of time over at Ravelry, looking for just the right patterns. I've queued a lot of possibilities.

One thing I know for sure, my nephew's baby won't need anything to fit right away: June in Texas is not sweater weather! So for them I'm looking at 6-9 month sizes. But for Hubby's nephew in the UK, October is definately sweater worthy, and I'm looking at 1-3 month sizes.

This is way fun. :)
