Saturday in D.C.

Spent a wonderful day with my Hubby in D.C. yesterday.  We started at the Jefferson Memorial and walked all the way down to the Lincoln Memorial, seeing the sights along the path.  I love living this close to the nation's capital.

Completely done with the Regatta Tee.  I am immensely happy with it.  Pics to follow in the next few days.  :)

Blocked and drying

Best news of all from yesterday:  Hubby came home from his site trip.  :)  Second best news is that I soaked my Regatta Tee and blocked it to dry.  Checked on it this morning and it seems to be a bit drier, but this might take a day or two.  This weekend it will be finished for sure!

The lace is my favorite part

The shoulder stitches are live, just waiting to be Kitchener'ed.

2,829

When I say that I have 22 rows left to knit, it doesn't sound like much, does it?  Nah, not really, and then actually, it's 23 rows, because row 23 is the bind off row.  But.......

23 rows X 123 stitches per row = 2,829 stitches.

That's how many individual stitches I knitted tonight.  I'm tired, my hands ache a bit, but it's done.  The Regatta Tee is off the needles.  Tomorrow night I will soak it and then block it.  :)

Not quite enough weekend...

...to finish the Regatta Tee.  However, it was long enough to complete the lace pattern, and now only 22 more rows of straight knitting and I can bind off the second piece.  Blocking after that, and assembling after that...

ARGH!  So close, so close.  :)

Finally!

The stripe pattern is finished, and now I can begin the lace.  So close I can taste it!!!

Counting down

Beginning a few count downs in my life.  1) counting down to vacation in August  2) counting down to the credit card payoff  3) counting down the rows on the Regatta Tee.

Yippee!  Only 33 more rows of stripe pattern and then on to the lace portion.  After that, it'll be just a hop skip and a jump till it's done.  :)

What will you be when you grow up?

I'll be socks!  All sorts, cable-y, lacey, straight-knitting-y...... and all my leftovers will grow up into a pair of stripey socks.  :)  Oh, the places we'll go!

I think Thomas approves.  :)

Best.Weekend.Ever.

This last weekend was absolutely wonderful.  Friday night we had our deck party, and about 20-25 folks showed up, a very nice mix of peeps.  It stopped raining so we could go out on the deck, even if the chairs and all were sopping wet.  Lots of food, drinks, laughs!

Then Saturday we went to a friend's house and enjoyed kabobs, a variety of mixed drinks, and a taco seasoning dip that was amazing.  Finally got to see the new Star Trek-Into Darkness movie.  Saw it in 3D, and it was fantastic.  Just the right amount of 3D effects and all.  Good plot line, full of action and sprinkled with ST humor.

Sunday we had our normal brunch at our local pub.  Did a bit of housework, not much, and then decided to try something we've never done before:  take our black lab to our pub and sit outside to watch the world go by.  She was such a good girl!  There was a bit of barking at another dog, but other than that, she was friendly to folks who wanted to pet her and didn't freak out by her surroundings.

Did a little bit of knitting, and finished the decreases on the second piece of the Regatta Tee, now it's straight knitting for a while, then the matching increases.  :)

Rain rain, go away!

The Deck Party is still on, but since it's been chucking it down with rain all day, it will be mostly indoors.  :)

Quiet descends.....

It's now just back to Hubby and me.  The in-laws went home last night to the UK.  While I do enjoy having them visit, it's always nice to get our house, routine, and lives back.   They won't be making the trip back this direction again, as it's becoming very difficult on them.  Their health isn't what it used to be.  Not surprising, as my FIL turns 90 this month.  Next spring, we'll go to them, I think.

The Regatta Tee, second half, is coming along nicely.  Probably won't have much time to knit on it this week, tho, as we have to go shopping tonight for our upcoming deck party this Friday, have trivia on Wednesday night, and we have to clean house on Thursday before the party.  Whew.  Getting tired just reading that.

:)
