One leaves, one arrives

So, Katie went home yesterday, and Roger arrives today.  It's nice that each grandchild will have the opportunity for one-on-one time with their grandparents.  :)  Short trips for both, but very nice.  Roger was very helpful to his dad - they actually got the rolling chasis of the old vette under the fiberglass body of the second old vette, making Frankenvette that much closer to completion!  They spent about two days drenched in sweat and car smells, thanks heavens for showers and washing machines, lol.

And I've finished with the first side of the Regatta Tee!  I am very pleased.

Too short, too soon

I've been loving having our daughter visit!  Katie arrived on Tuesday evening, and it's already Thursday, time for her to go home.  The trip was way too short, I wish she could have had more time off from work.  But I am thankful and blessed to have had her be able to visit at all.  Love you, Baby Girl!

Thoughts

TL:DR.  Also a possibility of TMI.  To get this clear, usually I am 9 times out of 10 quite content with the way I look and my clothes and all.  I feel confident that I won't make a cat laugh when it looks at me, and I like myself a lot.  It took me years to get to this point in my life, and I'm glad I finally made it.

However, tonight I stopped off at Target and tried on some dresses.  While in the changing room there were mirrors both front and back, so yeah, I got an eyeful indeed.  Not so pleased with what I saw from the rear. Felt a wave of revulsion and shame.  Why?  What my thighs look like has absolutely NOTHING to do with what kind of person I am, my sense of humor, my honor/integrity/compassion, my likes/dislikes and well, anything at all about me.  I really am quite healthy and I feel great.

I struggled for a bit more, then built a bridge and got over it.  I am NOT defined by my shape or looks.  I am defined by my spirit.  I have begun this week to walk the stairs as much as possible throughout the workday and I know that this will assist in keeping me healthy.  Healthy, happy, enjoying life, and wishing the same for all the women I know.

just some ramblings, as I said, TL:DR.

Making Progress

I am loving this yarn.  It slides through the fingers with a silky feel, even tho it's 100% cotton.  It is luscious.

Working on the increase rows now, won't be long until I can start the back piece, and then on to the lace portions.  I really like lace.  :)

Oklahoma Strong!

Tornadoes ripped through Moore and surrounding areas yesterday, and the conditions are still favorable for more.  My daughter and family are safe, but we know friends who have lost everything.  Please keep them all in your  thoughts and prayers.

Regatta Tee sailing along

Regatta Tee, the decrease rows have been worked
and now knitting towards the
increase point again.
Six contrast rows so far and if the cover photo
is any indication, I'm halfway there!!!

Picking up and carrying on

It's time to get back to basics.  Life should contain more knitting, time with friends and family, and activities.  For me, activities include different things:  going out to trivia night at the pub with my hubby, trying new restaurants and seeing new places in our still newish area of the country, enjoying a night in watching our favorite TV shows while knitting......

This blog was going gang busters when it started, but withered when Ravelry and Facebook came along.  It's going to thrive again.   So,  Finnigan, begin again!

Here are some of the items off my needles in the last months.
